FEMA, Another Money Pit

November 4, 2012

The most recent storm Sandy I think once again shows that we don’t need FEMA. The federal government has shown time and time again over the years that they can’t handle anything dealing with real people and responsibility. The federal government is trying to be to much to too many people, I believe they are doing it simply to hold more power.

The states with their National Guard units and state emergency response teams would seem to be able to assess the needs and react quicker to local populace. The other side of that coin also is when things are not done right you know who is at fault or responsibility on a local or state level. If everything is handled well you also know who to give credit to.

With FEMA no one is really responsible when they screw it all up (all the time), but if things go well the president wants to take the credit. The president did not do a dam thing but sit on his ass in a warm dry place, so why should he get any credit?

Let us stop sending all of this money to Washington so they can send it back to us with stipulations and restrictions on how we spend it! It makes no sense!

On Immigration

November 3, 2012

I am sure many people will disagree with me on my current position on immigration. This was not my past stance on the subject, nor will it be my future stance. Right now I believe we need to freeze all immigration until we can get a better handle on the situation. We also need to come to some kind of concensus on the subject before we go any further. I firmly believe that people in the government are using immigration for personal reason. What do I mean by that you wonder? I believe some are using it to purposely water down the white majority in America, which is not critical except for the fact the immigrants they are bringing in have nothing to offer America for the most part.

The other issue is letting people in large numbers come here from Islamic countries. They have no interest in assimilating into our society, their goal is just the opposite actually. Letting all of these muslims in is like letting a murderer or rapist into your house knowing their intentions, makes no sense.

Until we can stabilize our own economy and get back on the right path for our country it makes sense to me. If we don’t have jobs for our own people why add to the problem?

And for those of you that want to make the point about educated people we do need to bring in, that may be true to a point. But why do we have to do that? Because the same people that are using immigration for the wrong reasons have also been the same ones that have screwed up education so bad it no longer educates!

We have no obligation to anyone but the American people, and I believe right now that is all we should concern ourselves with until we get back on track. Even then I think we should limit immigration to only those that have an extremely compelling reason or will benefit our society. If they are not willing to love their own country enough to stand and fight to make it better, what makes you believe they will care about our country?

Part of the Problem, or the Solution?

November 1, 2012

With less then a week to go before the election we all need to ask ourselves where we see our country going. Many people don’t realize that this presidential election is a referendum on the direction our country takes.

One of the biggest problems we have is too many people still don’t understand that our system of government is a republic, not a democracy. It is the rule of law of that republic that guarantees us our individual rights. In a democracy the majority rules, and can take your rights away with a simple vote. Over time the politicians on both the left and the right have been weakening our rights through legislation. Also, activist judges have been doing a lot of damage to our rights by legislating from the bench.

We are slowing drifting toward a democracy, is this what we want? There are no benefits to us as citizens in a democracy, we would lose many of the rights and freedoms. Some of us cherish those rights and some take them for granted, if they were lost though we would all suddenly realize how important they were.

The democratic party has been over-run with libs and socialists it seems, and the republican party with big government rinos. Please get out and vote next week, but realize you can’t stop there if you want real change to come back to America. We need to put new leadership in at all levels of government, and let them know we won’t take their shit anymore, remind them they work for us!

We also have to realize we need to reduce the size of government at all levels also, we will never get our deficit under control without making that a priority. The most important thing we need to do right now is to create jobs. Jobs create revenue to run the country, support our families, etc… We have record spending on social programs, $59,000 plus on each family (2011 figures) receiving these services. We could have given them a check for that and accomplished more then we do with the current system. But we cannot move people off of these services if there are no jobs, that is how got in this mess, a lack of opportunities.

There are no easy answers, and many people are going to hate the solutions that will be required to pay down our debt, or we end up like Europe. We need to stop thinking like democrats and republicans, and start thinking like Americans! Would you prefer to be part of the problem or part of the solution?

Obama’s EPA Plans for 2013

October 28, 2012

Here is an article I wanted to share, I have heard rumors about some of these policies, and would like to verify more of the information. But I figured I would share this for now and very soon post an article of my own with more solid information. I do truly believe Obama has bad ideas in store for us if he gets re-elected, he understands that energy controls every aspect of our lives, so what way to damage our country more then with energy over regulation through the EPA. By doing it through the regulatory process he can bypass congress and tie their hands easier, where they would have to pass countless bills to try and combat his policies. His intentions are not completely clear, but the outcome of his actions are very clear, and very damaging.

American Pride

October 28, 2012

I am so sick of people saying we should not be proud to be Americans! I am part of the greatest country in the world, and I am dam proud of it, and yes we did BUILD IT! Americans made this country what it is, our pride in our country and in ourselves played a major role in that. Americans use to have a pride that spurred us to greater heights, we did not stop the world, but the pace at which we changed the world made it seem that way at times.

Over time we have gotten too many people in this country that don’t understand or know how it feels to be an American, I feel sorry for them because they are missing out on something very special. It’s not something you can touch, but when it touches you, it makes you want a better country for everyone. It also gives you a sense of understanding and appreciation for those that came before you. And for the responsibility they passed on to you to continue the dream! That pride helps you to understand that freedom is not free and requires hard work and sacrifice at times. If you have this pride you will give back to your country without being asked, if not you will just take from others. We won’t stop giving until it means our own survival, even then we won’t give up the dream that has been our reality for over 200 years!

I’m Back

October 25, 2012

My back surgery went well, I am glad to be home again. I am going to try and start posting again soon, it’s hard to sit for very long with this back brace on right now. But I want to get back to it, as I said previously, just a change of the guard will not be enough to get our country back on the right path. Too many politicians believe that just because they got re-elected it’s all good, not true.

The problem is we have been stuck with making a choice of the lesser of 2 evils for to long now. We have to insist that changes be made in the system too allow for more people too run for elected office. There are many people in our society that would run for office for the right reasons, but they don’t have the money and backing they need. So we the people suffer because of it.

This May Hurt A little!

October 14, 2012

This may hurt a little, but we have to cut the cost of government in the United States. I am hoping the Republicans sweep into the House and Senate and take a majority in both, and Romney takes the white house. The reason I want this is because the Democrats have shown complete incompetence in governing at this point. Why so many supporting the Democrats cannot see this is beyond human logic.

So if the Republicans take everything this election, they will have no excuse, no one to blame if things don’t get better in America. I have been saying for 20 years that neither party is serving us, our current condition proves that in my opinion. I personally believe the Republicans are not a whole lot different then the Democrats at this point, both are for big government and have too many progressives among their ranks.

A big plus at this point is the Republicans are the pro-business party. they will bring back jobs. If we are to cut the record spending on social programs, which we have too for long term survival, jobs are a major part of the solution. A lot of people are going to find out that the steps we need to take to get our country back where it should be are going to hurt. The question is will the politicians retaining their position, or the new ones taking office after this election have the guts to stand up and tell the truth?

What is the truth? What can we change? Here is a few ideas that might help:

  • Cut the number of federal employees ( could cut at least 100,000 or more)
  • Get rid of all government employee unions ( you should be proud to serve your country, and your work should speak for itself without a union)
  • Get rid of all social programs and send them back to a State level
  • Get rid of all subsidies for all business, if a product or service is needed the market will support it
  • Get rid of all of the tax breaks for everyone, corporate, business and personal
  • Get rid of the Department of Education, let the states run it like it used to be, will save billions of dollars and increase the quality of education
  • Get rid of the failed War on Drugs

As I was making this list I realized I could go on for pages with things we can change. So it comes back to the fact that we need real Americans in office, not politicians. A real American will do what is right for the country, without having re-election as a major concern on their mind all the time.

We have too many people offering too many services, enforcing too many laws and regulations at all levels of government. The size and scope of the federal government has grown way beyond anything that is needed or wanted, it’s time to tell them to do their dam job and mind their business! So lets see what the Republicans have to offer, I am not optimistic about the situation. I still believe as I have all along that “We The People” will have to take a more active role in our government, beyond just voting. So dust off your marching shoes, get your poster board and markers ready, I believe if we want our country back we will have to demand it in very clear terms! And exercise your Second Amendment rights, it’s not just a right but a responsibility as an American!

The Vice Presidential Debate

October 11, 2012

If you listen to the ABC after party it was a biden win by a large margin in the Vice Presidential Debate tonight. I think they should put down the crack pipe personally. Joe Biden has this weird smile through too much of the debate that was not appropriate to the situation. That and many of his points and responses to Paul Ryan’s statements were not in-line with reality I thought.

At the same time I think Paul Ryan could have been much more aggressive, and delivered more facts during the debate. I understand the debate is only 90 minutes, but he could have controlled the dialogue much more then he did. Overall I think Paul Ryan was the clear winner, but he could have done so much more with the opportunity.

I will give Martha some credit, considering obama was a guest at her wedding, she did not blatantly try to de-rail Ryan, she did try to give biden an edge, but she was trying to down play that.

The New Look

October 11, 2012

Those of you that have been coming here have noticed a bit of a new look to the design of the blog. With the election coming up I felt changes were needed. I am hoping Mitt Romney wins the election, I am working off of that assumption (yes, I know the old saying about assuming, lol).

The biggest reason for the change is once the election is over we will know who will be in the White House, Senate and the House. As I have said before, I don’t feel either party is serving us “we the people”. My direction of the blog will change with that change in Washington. I will be trying to give more of a day by day accounting of the actual legislation coming out of the House and Senate, and how it affects the people. I will be reading the the bills, executive orders, etc… coming out of the Washington, and hopefully be able to give some insight from an average Joe point of view everyone can understand.

I am going in for back surgery next week so things might go a little slow at first. But as I heal I plan on building and expanding the blog further. I want to do this because I can never find the news sources on the web that just inform me without insulting me or making me feel like I am just another click for the advertisers.

My new header design is simple, but if look at it you can see the spotlight coming from the middle on  both the left and the right sides, that is to signify that I won’t be leaning either way if I can help it. I will tell everyone straight up that I am a conservative independent, that will be reflected some in my writing. I became a conservative over time, I was very liberal when I was younger. My views were shaped by studying the issues and always looking at them from a point of view of what is best for the country as a whole.

As always I welcome comments and criticism, without them I don’t know if I am serving you in a way that helps you, and helps create dialogue to better our situation. I am glad to have the opportunity to be heard, and to try and contribute something. Thank You to everyone that checks in to hear what I have to say, you are appreciated!
